Print Magazines

Practical Parenting: This Australian publication features the personal essay I wrote called, "The Gift" (see link above under "Pure Inspirations".) in their February 2008 issue.

Alive: I am very excited to have another-but different-article on the subject of forgiveness published in this Australian Christian magazine. It's now on shelves in the February/March issue. Please let me know if you'd like to see a clip for this article.

Angels On Earth: This inspirational magazine has featured one of my stories earlier this year on how the kindness of strangers can make a huge difference in someone's life. Another story I devoted to my Grandfather can be read in the September/October (2007) issue. If you aren't able to get your hands on a copy of the magazine, you can read the story online here.

Autism Asperger's Digest: My feature article on Sensory Integration Dysfunction (SID) in the January/February 2008 issue, which is now out on the shelves! I am most proud of my pieces that help to bring awareness to SID and other disorders, such as Autism, Asperger's and Autism Spectrum. If you are interested in seeing a clip of this article and don't have access to the magazine, please contact me. I'd be more than happy to send you a copy of it.

Believe: This magazine is a local publication whose focus is on people going through cancer. It's goal is to give hope and support to those going through cancer during their battle. I was asked to contribute my personal story about my own fight with cervical cancer. (The story is in the fall issue on stands now!!) Click here to read it online. This is a fantastic magazine doing wonderful things for those going through the toughest fight of their lives. I'm honored to be a small part of what they do.

ByLine Magazine: Check out a version of my article, "Start Me Up" in print in ByLine's May 2008 issue.

Birth Issues: A breastfeeding article I wrote for a local pregnancy and birth magazine. You can also find it on the site of the association that puts the magazine out.

Cahoots: This is a Canadian publication focusing on women and women's views. My interview with Barbara Spencer on the subject of the important work done at Zebra Center will be in this month's issue! Click here to read the article.

Conceive: This magazine features my personal essay on getting/being pregnant with bicornuate uterus. My essay is part of the feature article on this subject. It's on stands NOW so be sure to check it out. (Look on the right hand side of the article.) If you'd like a copy of the clip, let me know.

Creations Magazine: This is one of my most proudest published works as it celebrates Daddies--who are often unappreciated today. Please be sure to check out my article in their recent issue by clicking here.

Christian Schools International: I wrote an article called, "Teach Me To Learn" for this organization's publication Christian Home & School. It's about how to help sensory sensitive children be a part of the school program alongside their peers. It's on sale now in their January 2009 issue!

Cross & Quill: I'm excited to announce that I wrote a piece for this wonderful writing magazine on how to inspire in the Christian market. It is now available to view.

Exceptional Family: This Canadian magazine focuses on children and families with special needs. My book was given a smashing review in the current issue. (Please contact me if you'd like to see a copy of the review.) I will also have a feature on how to help SID/SPD children do their best in a regular classroom in an upcoming issue.

Freelance Market News: This freelance writers' information magazine, located in England, published an article I wrote on how to break into writing markets "across the pond."

Going Bonkers!: I have an article in this fantastic resource for parents on the subject of strategies for parents with SPD children at home and at school.

Kindred Magazine: This earthy Australian parenting magazine reminds me alot of Mothering, with its holistic, natural approaches to pregnancy, birth and child-rearing. Their June issue features an article I wrote on the subject of nurturing the sibling relationship. If you aren't able to obtain a copy of the article, please contact me for a .pdf clip.

LifeCanada News: This is a newsletter put out by LifeCanada. I wrote a personal essay about my experience with receiving negative results during prenatal testing and choosing to keep a child with possible abnormalities rather than choosing to abort. It's a tough journey and nothing about it--from getting the tests to receiving negative results to choosing whether to end or continue a pregnancy--is easy. It's now available in the May/June issue.

Mom Writer's Literary Magazine: I am excited to announce my interview with Mary Rosenblum will be featured in the summer issue of this magazine. Mary is an incredibly talented writer and inspirational woman. Now others will be able to see why I believe so. Click here to read the interview on MWLM.

Mothering Magazine: I wrote an article on the importance of Grandparents that will be featured later this year. Please stay tuned and I'll have it here for you to read when it's published. If you'd like to see the piece to get a "feel" for the style, please email me and I'll be happy to send it to you for your review.

Occupational Therapy Now: This magazine is geared to OTs and I was asked to contribute a personal essay about our positive experiences with OT. It's in their current issue focusing on treating children with sensory issues and SPD. What a tremendous honor!

Playground: This is a publication of the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy (CACPT). I wrote an article in the March 2010 issue about our experiences with Play Therapy and the amazing ways it helped Jaimie and our entire family.

Pure Inspirations: This online inspirational magazine will feature a story about the greatest gift I've ever received: a hug from my beautiful Jaimie.

Rag Magazine: I have an article in this magazine discussing how to start up your own biz! It's similar to the article feature in WOW-womenonwriting but much more compact and specific to Rag's needs. Please let me know if you'd like to see a clip of this article.

Spotlight On Recovery (R. Graham Publishing Company): My article on the sorts of signs to watch for to know whether your child has sensory sensitivites (SPD) or if they're "just spirited" is in the June 2008 issue! And my article on considering a vasectomy is in the December 2008 issue.

United Church Observer: Aside from the work I've done to bring awareness to SPD children and families, I have to say this project is one of my favorites. I wrote a personal essay for this magazine on the subject of my wonderful Godmother, Auntie Lois. She has helped to pull me through some rough patches in my life and taught me how to love myself. This is my tribute to her and the piece now available in the January/09 issue. This piece can also be read on a site called "Free Sermons and Worship." It's a great site for spiritual healing and guidance.
