DARK WATER is now on! I'm very excited about this as the story is very close to my heart and the first in a series.
Thank you to Stephanie and all the people at ASTRAEA PRESS for giving the series a chance. I hope to make this a huge success. Writing for young people is my passion and I believe that strong messages can be given to them without preaching. This book not only tackles the issues of SPD and PTSD, but also instills a strong sense of family with a dash of young romance mixed in.
I have a very strong connection to the Native culture, as well as to the water element, and this book stemmed from a dream I had. When I 'Googled' Native legends about water healing, as I have always found healing from this element, I came across Brenda MacIntyre's website. She had a song called, "Crystal Clear" playing and her singing and drumming completely showed the feelings I have about water and it's healing ability. I was so inspired by her words and music, I felt compelled to write a book about it, and so The Water series was born.
I'm not sure if her site is still up, but I got to speak with her to let her know the inspiration she's had with her music. I have never underestimated the power of nature or music in their soothing, calming and healing capabilities. (Thank you, Brenda.)
We are going to be celebrating the kick off to this series all week with excerpts from the book, interviews with some of the characters as well as a few other goodies. And at the end of the week, I'll be giving away a couple of copies of the book.
What we can do today is share what YOUR healing element is and why. Don't be shy. Share your response here and we'll randomly choose a couple of you to win a free copy of the book.
Thank you for helping me celebrate this series. It is closer to my heart than you know.
